In 2013 a young man named TJ Rickey was starting college.\u00a0 He was exceptionally smart and was raised by a single mother with no support from his father.\u00a0 His car died, and he needed another one to get him to and from work.\u00a0 Otherwise, he rode his bike to classes.\u00a0 He was attending South Alabama on a partial scholarship playing the trombone, double majoring in biology and chemistry.\u00a0 The week before his car died, I bought a larger used vehicle for myself.\u00a0 I decided to give TJ my Mazda3.\u00a0 I approached several churches and asked them if they would help me with a tax write-off by running it through their non-profit tax ID.\u00a0 Not one church would help me.\u00a0 I still gave him the vehicle, worth over 5k.\u00a0 This situation lit a fire in me, and at that moment I decided to start my own non-profit organization.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the time I did not have a vehicle of my own and was paying out of pocket for school which made it hard for me to afford a car payment and insurance. I felt so defeated knowing I was doing everything I could to try and build a better future for myself.
